I hope that everyone had a great Christmas! This one was great, to really focus on what matters most. This week I went to have confrence in Cuiabá! We had to take a bus there which took about 15 hours! But it was good to finally get there. We did a lot of things and there was a lot of great times! We traveled back (by plane this time) back to Alta Floresta with our companions! We got to show them the area and have some fun on our pday night of 24 and pday of 25. It was pretty great. Im loving it. My new companion is Elder Dontato from São Paulo Brasil. He is a convert to the church at 22, just a little over a year ago. And he is great. We are enjoying things here a lot and its going great. One thing our mission president talked to us about it presents. There are presents, real presents, that we recieve every day from God. Blessings, happiness, His love, and so much. But whats important this time of year is what we can give Him. There are things that we can give Him. Maybe its something that we will give up that will make us in His will more. Maybe its something that we will do more that will be obeying Him more. Its important that we can make these goals this time of year and we can always learn more and arrive closer and closer to Him. And how great will be our joy. Everyone have a great new year! -Elder Nelson

We are preparing for christmas by teaching everyone what it is really all about. In Brasil, everyone believes in God but very few actually know who He is. So it is an amazing opportunity to teach them that God is our Heavenly Father, who created our spirits. He wants us to progress even more so He created this plan for us and sent us here. He loves us so much He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to suffer for us so we can return to Him, even better. And we have His church once again on the earth, preparing for the second coming of Jesus Christ. We will travel by plane to Cuiabá today to have a Christmas Conference tomorrow. We then will return with our companions Wednesday. So we are excited for this week. It should be pretty good. I hope everyone will have a great Christmas and remember and give time to Him who saved us all. -Elder Nelson

It was a little crazy this week with the whole city and just us two. But we found a way and made it work. It was great to meet new people this week. And it was awesome to work the other half of the city. So there isnt much priesthood holders in our branch. Basically, it is just our branch president. And he will travel for a month starting next sunday. So Elder Bodily and I have the opportunity to run the branch until he returns. It should be pretty interesting. But we are excited. I had the opportunity to give a talk in church this past sunday and i gave it on Jesus Christ and the Atonement. I talked about how the prophet Jacob in the Book of Mormon said we should seek to obtain a perfect knowledge in Christ and in His atonement. So i talked about His atonement. It is something that most people know about but not much about. What does it mean? Why the big sacrifice? How does it work? These are some questions to think about. And i invite everyone to think about them especially during this special season where we celebrate this Prince of Peace and Mighty Counselor, Jesus Christ. He was born, He suffered for us, He died on the cross, He he ressurected himself. All so we can have joy. Everyone have a great week! -Elder Nelson

Well President Oliveira came to visit our city this week! He arrived and he began to tell us our transfer. So the other companionship in the city will be leaving and it will leave Elder Bodily and I to work in the city for three weeks. Elder Bodily, my companion, recieved the position of district leader and i recieved the position of senior companion. After three weeks, at the Christmas Confrence, we will pick up our companions. Which are pretty new, with only 2 transfers each. So it should be a pretty fun transfer, we are pretty excited. We worked with a lot of people this week and met a lot of people on the road. We are searching for those who are seeking the truth. But for now, it is a little difficult. But we wont give up we will keep on searching. This week was great, it was really spiritual and amazing. We are seeing the church come up and we are seeing a lot of potencial in people. The church is being restored and people are being brought back to the truth, I know it. I hope everyone has a good week! Us three for three weeks! -Elder Nelson
11/30/15
We are visiting and meeting a lot of new people. We are working and working and working ha. We are trying to prepare for the building that we will have here soon. We want to fill it. We want to help as many people as we can. Our time is short here, so we got to take advantage. It is hard to get people to realize how important going to church really is. We are having a lot of struggles with this, my companion and I. Many people in the world think that we just need to remember God every once and a while in our lives. We just need to believe in Him. But I promise you thats not it. Faith is an amazing word. Because in it exists two words: believing and acting. Just like it says in James 2:20, "Faith without works is dead." So we need to act on our beliefs. We need to go to church to feed our faith. We need the blessings that come from going to church. And if we go to church we will see this in action. When I think about Christmas coming up here I get excited. Lights going up, trees getting decorated, stores putting up promotions, and everyone just excited. Its a beautiful time of the year. But whats even more beautiful is when we remember what its really all about. There was a baby born more than two thousand years ago. He was born a person just like you and me with challenges, pain, trials, and temptations, but He was born with a purpose, a purpose greater than any purpose that ever existed, He was to save the world. I hope that we can all remember Him, Jesus Christ, this Christmas season. And I hope we can learn just a little bit more about what He did and how it applies to our lives personally. This video is amazing and all of you should check it out. christmas.mormon.org Everyone have a great week! -Elder Nelson

The construction workers arrived to begin the construction of the new house that we will use as a church. They will start now and it should be ready to use before Christmas. It is really exciting. Everyone is really excited and we are making a lot of plans to prepare to actually have our own building here. It is nothing but excitement here for the members. On the side of investigators, we have been looking for new people. We noticed that the further in our area we go, the more easier it is to find people. So we went to the furthest part in our area that we could find, 2 hours away walking, and we began to meet people. We met a lot of awesome people and families and we are planning to go there a lot. It has been really awesome to find new people. So we will begin and see where this will lead us. We have been teaching a lot the Plan of Salvation. And we have been using a lot of the life of Jesus Christ to show it. Before he died on the cross he told the man next to Him that they would be in paradise that very day. And three days later He appeard as a ressurected person to Mary and told her that He hasnt yet appeared to His Father. And we read in Peter that he taught the dead in prison. So where is this paradise and prison? We know that is the Spirit World where we wait for the ressurecton, where we can still learn about the gospel and get the chance to come closer to Christ even more. We know the Plan of God is completely just. And we all have the opportunity to return to Him, And to live in HIs presence with our families for eternity. Everyone have a great thanksgiving! And remember to thank God for His plan for you! Have a great week! -Elder Nelson

This week our District Leader went to a meeting and we got stuck with the whole city, just us three elders. It was a fun week. We did a lot of work and when our district leader came back we got the sad news that we can no longer play soccer on p-days. Apparently too many elders are hurting themselves. Oh well, we will find other things to do. These past weeks have been a little difficult, people are having a hard time going to church. Our numbers have been really low from 20-30 people in church including us. But we will help this branch and it will grow strong. We were able to have an activity in the new house that we will soon meet in. It is really nice and we cleaned it up. It should work really good for a church and we are excited for it. I learned a lot this week. God is there. And he wants us to repent. He wants us to grow close to Him. But we cant do that without leaning, without growing. We cant do nothing our whole lives here on earth and expect salvation. We need to help God's kingdom here on earth, in our own cities. We need to give our all to help it grow stronger. We have the blessing of having the church in our lives now days, in our own cities even. Something people would have done anything for in the past. So lets take advantage of it and help her. Everyone have an awesome week! Heres some photos of last p-day, we went to a museum and an airplane museum thing! -Elder Nelson

Rain! The rainy season here is starting so it is almost raining every day now! It could poor and poor for half and hour and it could just randomly stop and the sun can come out and be hot again. Just a few seconds after, the water is gone and the sun is out to get us again! But its good to get some rain! This week was good to meet some more people. We went to a fair things this week where a bunch of people have booths and sell things. We set up a table and began to talk to people about the gospel and share with them pamphlets and stuff. It was really good. We met a lot of people. Thats really what the majority of our work is here, finding the people prepared by the Lord. It is hard, a lot of people dont want to hear the gospel, but just one out of one hundred is worth it! The worth of every sould is great in the sight of God! I know this to be true! Every single person. And how great is his joy when one, just one, begins to come back to Him. Everyone have a great week! -Elder Nelson

Well after a missed bus, getting lost in Cuiabá, and a short plane ride, I arrived here in Alta Floresta. And im loving it. Theres a lot more forest here, tons of more animals and bugs that we run into every day. There is only 4 missionaries here in this small branch and there is a lot of walking. The areas are really big. We are meeting in a room at the technical college and the number of members is really small! But its really awesome. I love it here, the people are awesome and my companions great! Today is day of the dead here in Brasil so we decided to go to the cemetary this morning and share the plan of salvation with people. There was tons of people and we talked to a lot to people. A lot of people didnt want to hear but we gave them a pamphlet anyways. God really has a plan for us. And its perfect. We can live with our families forever. And this is what God wants. And everyone will learn of this plan, now or later. But its better for them and for us if we share with them this plan. We are blessed with this knowlege, why shouldnt they be? Everyone have an amazing week! p.s. One photo we did go carts one p-day in Rondonopolis and the other is 2 americans eating mexican ice cream in Brasil. -Elder Nelson

So I will be transfered to Alta Floresta with translated in english is High Forest! So it is basically in the Amazon and should be really awesome! Im super excited but sad to leave Rondonópolis. But it should be great! We did a lot of divisons with other missionaries this week! So it has been great to learn from other people. Thats something that is set up from God to us missionaries and really for everyone! We shouldnt compare ourselves to others but its a great tool that we can learn from the example of others to better ourselves. Expecially Jesus Christ. The natural man in everyone wants to look at the bad in people. But if we look only on the bad in people we will never grow. And we learn that from the pharasees and Jesus Christ. We need to look on the good in people. I forgot my pictures this week since of the rush, i will be picking up a bus here in a little bit. But everyone have a great week! And have a great Holloween! -Elder Nelson

It is becoming summer here! This week has been full of contacts, lessons, and sweat! But it has been super great. I love working here and the opportunity to learn more and grow mentaly, emotionally, physically, and most importantly spiritualy! We were able to meet a really awesome family. They have been looking for a church. They have been having problems medically and have been looking for a spiritual strength. They have already been to a few churches but just havent felt right. But they said that they felt something different talking to us and are excited to visit the church. We are super excited for them! We also met another family where the mother was already baptised but has lost contact with the church the past few years. We were able to meet here and her family and invite them to church! This week has been amazing and we have been learning a lot on the constant process of conversion and bettering ourselves. There is no end point. We must constantly be creating goals and accepting criticism from others on how we can better ourslelves. But there is a natural sensce in us that doesnt want to change. That doesnt want to accept the critism of us when it could be useful. We cant take offence to constructive critisism! Especially from those most close to us! Constantly bettering, constantly becoming more like Christ is Gods plan for us! I pray that we do this! Everyone have an amazing week! If the weather is below 100 degrees enjoy it! Your lucky! -Elder Nelson

This week has been amazing. It has been a little cloudy and rainy so it has been really awesome. We are all enjoying and taking advantage of the sun not fighting against us this week. But it has been awesome. We´ve been working a lot with contacts, less active members, recent converts, and a few families. It is really awesome to be able to see someone return to the church after a long time of inactivity. This is what we were able to see yesterday. We were so happy it was amazing. It is also really awesome to talk to everyone on the street about the gospel. So spread the knowledge that the Lord´s church is on the earth once again and we are working to gather zion. Its so awesome to be a part of this work and share this wonderful message. I had the great opportunity to study again probably the most important section in Doctrine and Covenants. Section 132. And i really love verse 19. If you guys can study that its really awesome. I love to teach this scripture to families. I love to tell them and bring them the hope that the family can be forever. This is probably one of the most important hope we have in the gospel. The family can be sealed by the word of God to be united throughout eternity and be unlimited throughout the eternities. The love of God is unlimitted and because of this our potential is umlimited. We have to do our best not to take this for granted. We have so much in store but we must live by the way God tells us to live. Its hard but its worth every difficulty, every challenge, every tear, every pain, every exhausted breath. Everything is worth it in the work of the Lord. How great is this gospel! Everyone have an amazing week! I will see you all again next week! -Elder Nelson

I hope everyone enjoyed Confrence! It truly was an inspired and spiritual event. I was so happy to watch that. It was different this time as i watched it in portuguese. It was the highlight of this week! I hope everyone had the chance to watch it! I loved Elder Bednars talk about the leadership of the church. It really helped strengthen my testimony of revelation and how our leaders are truly chosen by the Lord. If you have a chance, i would suggest watching or watching again general confrence, we can learn so much from it. Everyone have a good week! -Elder Nelson

This week we went to Cuiabá for a zone confrence! It was really awesome and i loved it! Our new mission presidente is making a lot of changes for the better so its really awesome! he is really changing the atitude of the mission! I was able to give my first talk in sacrament meeting which was great! It was about member missionary work (easy). But it was awesome to talk to the Branch about that. This week was fun of amazing spiritual experiences! I cannot count how many blessings we recieved! It is true how the Lord will bless you with everything you need and when you are doing more for him he will even bless you with things that you want! I cannot describe little blessing of just simple things like someone offering dinner to us when we were hungry, it truly is amazing. This Gospel is the best thing! There is no better focus in the universe. It applies to everything, everyone. The example of Jesus Christ is the answer to everything! Everyone have a great week and enjoy General Confrence! It is going to be amazing! -Elder Nelson

After several week of gaining trust, we were able to have the baptism of one of our investigators this week! It was super awesome to prepare this for her and to see her nonmember family get really happy for her and see her baptism. My new companion is pretty crazy. He is super excited all the time so its cool! We are going to do great things this transfer! And the new american is from South Carolina, Elder Brown, so its pretty cool to help him and introduce him to Brazil. I have a little trouble speaking in him and english and dont remember how to say some things in enlish but its all good! There is nothing better i can be doing right now. And nothing i could do, and all the potencial that we have, is impossible without the atonement. Jesus Christ gave us everything. So im happy to do some part to give back to Him. Love Him back! And i know you will recieve the pure love of Christ and experience a type of happiness that you never knew existed!

Today is the day of transfers! i will stay but my companion, Elder Neves, will be leaving to Ponta Porã, to the ward where i was! So thats good for him, im excited for him. And my new companion will be Elder Chaves, from Peru! So i am excited to work with him! And Elder Batista will be training a new american misionary so it will be cool to help him with that! This week was pretty great! We did a lot of contacts and met a lot of awesome people and families! It is alwasy amazing to meet a family that wants to learn more and unite their family more. We met a lot of amazing people so we are planning to have a lot of baptisms. I am super excited for this next transfer. Here we go! Everyone have an amazing week! -Elder Nelson

This week we had some challenges. Some challenges with some people we are teaching and some challenges within our own district. But everything turned out great. I was able to learn a lot about the atonement and how it applies to us indivitually and in everything. God loves every single one of us, the sinner and the righteous. He loves us all. We all have problems, difficulites, challenges, and weaknesses. But the atonment, what Jesus Christ payed for us, is there for each one of us. For us to improve. This is what life is about. Bettering ourselves in ways that we cant do ourselves. We cant do it ourselves. We need His help. And all we have to do is ask Him and listen. This week we had american day! Where we did things american and ate american food (to the best of our abilities.) And today is independence day of Brasil so it should be great!

My companion did one year this week! So we were able to celebrate his
one year with a little cake! This week has been amazing. We were able
to meet a family this week who has been seperated by religion. Every
member of the family has a different church. And when we were able to
talk with them about the restoration, the one true church, the same
church that Christ organized, centered on families, it was really
awesome to see their happiness. We also met a lady who has several
questions about family and marrage and we were able to explain the
Plan of Happiness our Father in Heaven has for us to be sealed for
time and all eternity to the ones we love.
So this week i was really able to focus on marrage and families. And i
remember our meeting with our area president. Families are more
important than we can ever comprehend. The family is where God, the
husband and the wife meet. The gospel isnt created for man or for
woman, it is created for families. For happiness. And there is no
happiness greater than a family in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Im so
happy to be a missionary, to bring this message of complete happiness
to families. There is nothing better i can be doing right now. "The
family is ordained of God. Marriage between manand woman is essential
to His eternal plan. Children areentitled to birth within the bonds of
matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital
vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely
to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus
Christ."
So i wish good luck to my twin sister Amber this week as she starts
this lifelong journey.

Our trio ended this week! Pretty sad but we are happy to focus on our own areas now. We had a confrence this week in Cuiabá, they call it mission tour, which is pretty weird! It was with the president of the area and was really cool! Really awesome to hear what he had to say!
Its one of the saddest things that a lot of people like us missionaries a lot here and invite us to their houses and everything. But they dont want anything of the church! It gets pretty sad sometimes. But it makes up for it when you are able to see the progression of someone in the church! Its one of the happiest feelings you can get!
Everyone have a good week!

Another crazy week! The companion of Elder Batista didnt come this week so we are still in a trio, with two areas combined! Its a huge area, a lot more walking and work, but its great and we are learning a lot from each other! I am glad to be with these two awesome Elders! We are making a lot of plans to invite our investigators to baptism and we are really exciting! We are also starting an english class! Well with me and my companions, ahah i will start to teach them english, they want to be able to speak by the 1st because we will be doing an american day where we eat american food and do american things! Well North American, as some people say. But its exciting! Intense week! Hope everyone has a good one!

This week has been a crazy one! Im basically in a trio right now. We are waiting for our curto prazo ( a member from the mission who is asked or chooses to serve as a missionary for one or more transfers) to return from Cuiabá doing his papers to be the companion of the new elder in our house Elder Batista. So we are working in two areas with the tree of us at the moment. So its kind of crazy!
But on the bright side, we had a baptism this week! Brenda as prepared and decided to be baptised! It was really awesome to help her prepare and see her be baptised! My companion, Elder Neves, baptised her and it was an awesome experience!
In our mission, every transfer there are like 20 missionaries leaving and only about 3 coming in. So we are having a hard time with missionaries! This is why we have curto prazos! We are combining a lot of areas and zones. So our zone has about 3 cities now. We have all the missionaries coming here today so we can have a zone meeting tomorrow. So it should be a fun p-day with all these missionaries today. We are going to have a churrasco.
Blessings exist, every day, every second! The church is true, perfect, and there is no other way to organize a church then the way Christ established it! We have the true church, what a blessing!
Everything is great here! Its really hot! But its awesome. The work is going great! Everyone have a great week!

We recieved transfer news! I will be staying in Rondonópolis and my companion, Elder Alves, will be heading to Dorados! My new companion will be Elder Neves, who is already in our branch, he will just be switching sides of the branch to my side! I will lead the area and it should be fun!
Im excited for this next transfer it should be awesome! We had such a great transfer and met and taught several people. Miracles do happen its amazing! Everyone have a good week!

We had a festa de Julinho this week at the church! It was pretty cool, a bunch of food and dancing. Of course i couldnt dance though, im a missionary. But it was awesome! We helped set it up with tons of banners and little huts of palm tree branches! It was pretty cool! There was a lot of miracles that have happened with us finding people to teach, more like them finding us! Its amazing, people are prepared by the Lord to hear the truth, all we have to do is share it with them, Its everyones job as members of His church. The rest of this week should be great. The last week of the transfer!
There is no greater happiness than in the gospel. The more we learn about it, the more we share it, and the more we love it, the more we will understand our Heavenly Father´s love for us and understand our purpose. The gospel and normal life, there is no difference. Too many of us seperate these things when we need to put them together, the gospel first and let it guide our lives. Live it and love it!
Here in Brazil we move mountains with our faith! Well, brazilian mountains!
Everyone have a great week!

We had a family night with a family this week that was awesome. It is so good to see people strengthen each other in the gospel. A small testimony or a big testimony, it doesnt matter. It is so great to see people make commitments and such sacrifices just based on the knowlege that they know the Book or Mormon is true, or that Joseph Smith was a prophet! Because thats all we need to know to grow our testimonys! It is so amazing to see!
The gospel is true! I cant express it enough! There is no better way to know it then to learn about it!

A lot of great things happened this week! First we had a zone meeting where we talked a lot about obedience in faith and dispensations and how God doesnt change. God always wants us to have the gospel in our lives. But there are so many times when people reject it and God takes it from the earth until we are ready to recieve it again. He then calls prophets who talk to Him through prayer and He talks to them through revelation. This happend so many times throughout time with Adam, Noah, Moses, and so on.
I also had the awesome opportunity to go help out with an english class at a college. We have a member in our district who teaches an enlish class and he wanted me and the other american elder in our zone to come and talk to the class for a day. It was super fun and a super cool experience to do that! When i talked about the States so many were really interested. We have no idea how lucky we are in the States to have so much luxuries! I now know this!
The best part about this week was the baptism we had saturday! It was so awesome to see Alef from when we first met him, up until his baptism. He made so many changes to follow his Savior. So much sacrifices, he is such a great example! I cannot explain the complete happiness that i felt during his baptism and confirmation! It was incredible!
Everyone have an amazing week!

It has been an amazing week! We went to Cuiabá this week to have a confrence and meet with the new mission president! President Oliveira! It was awesome to meet him and his wife and they are great people. We are super excited and happy to have them, it was a great confrence!
We had the opportunity to invite one of our investigators to baptism and he accepted! So we have a baptismal date this saturday for him and we are super excited for him! Its hard when we go to peoples houses and ask them to change their lives. Its not easy at the slightest. If they have been drinking coffeee, smoking, or drinkin alchohol for years its not easy or convenient to stop! But they stop because they feel the Spirit testify that this is the true church and most of the time know that its not what they should be doing. Doing what the Lord wants of us is not easy, but it is definitely worth it!
This week was full of spiritual experiences and me and my companion have been talking a lot about the gospel. The gospel is so perfect. Everybody has doubts at one point in their life about the gospel. But its so important that we dont dwell on our doubts and let that ruin our faith. Its so important to not feed our doubts with the internet and false sites, rather than study the scriptures. Every single one of my doubts and the doubts of people that we meet have been answered in the scriptures. I honestly think the church is meant to have some things to make us think. If the church was obviously in every way the right church, everyone would join it! No one would have to seek the truth. Its so important that we love the Lord and find him in everything. Everything points directly to Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. Every little thing. Every night we end up walking on the street at night and i end up looking at the stars and the moon. Its perfect.
Hope everyone had a good week! Have another good one!

We had district confrence this week and it was awesoeme! It was the last time that we will see and hear from our mission president, President Reber. He has been an amazing president and it is so sad to see him leave. But it is happy that he will get to be with his family. And we are excited for our new mission president. All the missionaries in the north will go to Cuiaba this week to have a confrence with the new mission president so i am excited for that!
We have been teaching some awesome people. Some people that have definitely, without doubt, have been prepared by the Lord. Its so amazing to see them listen to what we have to say and keeping the commantments and the commitements that we teach them. Its not easy. One thing that President Reber talked about is doing difficult things. Keeping all the commandments that we do is difficult, the word of wisdom, the law of chastity, the law of tithing and fast. None of those is easy! Especially in the world today! But its amazing as we prayerfully and willingly strive to obey them, the lord will help us in ways we would never know. I know this without a doubt. Ive seen it in so many peoples lives!
Everyone have an amazing week!

Found out i will be staying in Rondonopolis for another transfer with my companion Elder Alves! We are super excited for this opportunity to work together again and do the best we can! It is my first second transfer in an area so this should be awesome now that i know the area and the people. This should be an awesome transfer!
Yesterday we sent off an elder in our appartment, Elder Izquirdo. He finished up his mission this week and is heading back to his house in Columbia as we speak! He was an awesome elder and it was super sad to send him off but really exciting for him to go and continue his life!
We are super excited for this upcoming weekend where we have district confrence! Where President Reber, our mission president will be there along with Elder Bednar! We are trying to get all our investigators to go so they can have an opportunity to have this awesome experience!
It was awesome this sunday! It is so amazing to see people come to church and keep their commitments. We were able to have a lot of people come to church yesterday. Even a less active who hasnt come for months. Its a happy day when someone returns to church. And the second they do, they realize what they have been missing all that time they have been away. They can feel the same feeling they felt earlier in their life. It is never too late to come back! Never too far away to return to the loving arms of our savior. And coming to church is never too uncool. Its one of the best things you can do!
Everyone have an amazing week!

Last week of this transfer! We will see if i stay, if my companion stays or what will happen sunday!
We had a meeting with the zone and found out that Elder Bednar will be coming to the district a week after this next sunday! So that would be awesome if i stay and get to see that! Maybe talk to him and shake his hand...
Had a lot of awesome experiences this week! Lot of cool things happen with a lot of lessons, exchanges and so on. It was a busy week! Always staying busy here on the mission but it is an awesome busy!
We have one member who isnt active in the church anymore because of some doubts. We try to teach him but there are some answers to his questions that not even we know! But everyone has doubts. Questions are good but doubts can cause you to stray from the truth. It was doubt that satan used to tempt Jesus. Using the word if. Doubts can cause several problems. Satan uses doubts on each of us. But it is important to stick with the foundation of what we know, the things we have felt, the experiences we have had. We cant let little doubts get in the way of our progression. We must stay firm in what we know. And when we stay strong and not dwelling in our doubts, we will be blessed and all of our questions will be answered in the last days.
